IAMAW – Archives of the IAM and IAMAW Publications

Brothers and Sisters of the IAM

It was great to see you in New Orleans last month; thank you so much for attending my presentation. Since the meeting, I hope all of you have considered sharing your district and local newsletters with the Southern Labor Archives for inclusion in our Digital Collections. We are accepting both paper and born-digital newsletters for this project in order to increase the breadth and depth of the research that can be done using the IAM Archives.                       bhbh

This is a new project and we will need a few volunteers to get the program started. If you are interested, please give me a call (contact information below) and we can discuss the logistics of getting the materials to the archives. If you send us paper copies and want them back, we’ll be happy to return them to you.

To see how we currently display the IAM Journal and IAM Newspaper, you can check out the IAMAW Publications in our Digital Collections. Attached you will find a guide to help you search IAMAW Publications. There is also a link for other IAM documents we’ve digitized and placed online (below). I hope you enjoy looking at the historic photographs and documents we have included there.

If your local or district is interested in donating your records to the Archives (minutes, contracts, organizing files, etc.), I have also attached a document that describes the process of donation and lists items we want and do not want for the Archives. We are always seeking records to fill in gaps in the IAM’s history and to provide a better understanding of the work of unions.
