Labour Day 2014
Planning is well underway for Labour Day festivities taking place in Vancouver on Monday, September 1, 2014, between 11:00 am and 3:00 pm.
The Labour Day Picnic last year was a success with over 2,000 people attending throughout the day, and there was something for everyone to enjoy. CUPE and USW provided live music, which drew in a large crowd and CUPE Metro provided a large games station for children, which included a bouncy castle and races with prizes.
This year, the Labour Day Picnic will take place at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, and activities will be much like last year with games and activities for children, live performances and union information tables with give-away items, displays and literature.
Attached are the booth space request form and the volunteer sign-up sheet. We would like to encourage affiliates to set up a booth and bring lots of small “swag” items to give away to the public.
We are asking for a donation to cover the costs involved in providing a great event for union members. Please make cheques payable to “B.C. Federation of Labour” with Labour Day in the subject line.
This event is sponsored by the B.C. Federation of Labour, the Vancouver & District Labour Council, the New Westminster District Labour Council and the Canadian Labour Congress.
In solidarity,
IRENE LANZINGER
Secretary-Treasurer
