Another new phase
The people of British Columbia have done a tremendous job helping our BC NDP government flatten the curve of COVID-19. Premier John Horgan has announced we’re moving into phase three of BC’s Restart Plan – our gradual approach to re-opening the province’s economy. During phase three, people can take part in smart and safe travel across BC. If transmission rates remain low, you can also expect further opening up in the education sector as well as in the movie and TV industry. As we move into a new phase of BC’s Restart Plan, there’s still lots more work to be done if our province is going to achieve the long-term recovery we all deserve. If you want to help ensure that BC continues to have the kind of smart, compassionate government it needs at a time like this, please consider donating to the BC NDP’s end-of quarter fundraising campaign before the June 30 deadline. Thank you for everything you do. Restaurants and tourism are cornerstones of BC’s economy – with over 190,000 British Columbians working in the hospitality industry. As we enter phase three, this sector will continue to re-open. But it’s still among the parts of our economy hardest hit by COVID-19. That’s why we’ve announced a new wholesale pricing model that will allow businesses with liquor licenses to purchase beer, wine, and spirits at reduced cost, so more restaurants can reopen and more people can get back to work. While everyone continues to flatten the curve here in BC, we’re connecting with supporters like you through a series of fun and innovative online events featuring many of our MLAs. Tonight, we’ve got a celebration of Premier John Horgan’s 25 years as an MLA. Next weekend, John will be joining comedian Charlie Demers for an evening of cooking and comedy. Coming up, you can enjoy drinks online with Selina Robinson as well as a virtual birthday party for Katrina Chen and the first episode of NDP Cribs, starring Anne Kang. All of which will be leading up to our big New Democrats Got Talent showcase on July 25. And we’re announcing new events all the time, so remember to keep checking back. Everyone needs a secure, affordable place to call home in their community. Last week, your BC NDP government announced opening or starting construction on hundreds of new affordable homes across the Lower Mainland. Projects include 85 homes for families and individuals in North Vancouver and 49 affordable units in Maple Ridge. These projects are among the more than 23,000 new homes that are complete or underway throughout the province. Connect with us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. See you again soon!
