We Need EI Reform Now
| Yesterday the government tabled a fiscal update that shows us how much the pandemic has cost.
Some people are already jumping on this fiscal update as a reason to cut spending and cut back supports. But if we cut support to people now, our economy may never recover. We cannot turn our back on each other now. After all, this crisis is not over; we need to keep investing in Canada. The Canada Emergency Response Benefit is winding down at the end of August. Still, millions of Canadians don’t have jobs to go back to. We need to make sure the Employment Insurance (EI) system is ready so that no one falls through the cracks.
