Recently unionized faculty at Pacific Gateway International College (PGIC) in Vancouver have set up picket lines at the PGIC Campus at 1155 Robson Street.  Faculty spokesperson Dianne Simmons said that faculty have taken job action after prolonged negotiations and mediation efforts failed to convince the employer to offer a fair settlement.  “PGIC teachers are the lowest paid ESL teachers in Vancouver and the employer made no effort to change that,” added Simmons.  “Teachers at PGIC are looking for a fair settlement and today’s job action sends a strong message to PGIC administration that teachers are serious about achieving that settlement,” Simmons concluded.

PGIC faculty are affiliated to the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators (FPSE), the provincial union that represents over 10,000 faculty and staff in BC’s post-secondary institutions.
