Expert Advisory Panel making recommendations on first steps to reopening of travel
Last week, the COVID-19 Testing and Screening Expert Advisory Panel released recommendations concerning land and border measures and a gradual reopening of air travel. The IAM has been monitoring the situation very closely and expects an announcement based on the recommendations from the Federal Government within days.
“We are cautiously optimistic that the government will follow the recommendations of their Expert Advisory Panel and slowly reopen the borders when it’s safe to do so. Air Transportation is a critical contributor to the Canadian Economy and provides for hundreds of thousands of jobs. Our members are desperate to get back to work and have been looking for a plan for a restart of the industry from the federal government. We hope any imminent announcement will contain the plan to restart aviation in the country.” said Stan Pickthall, General Vice-President of IAM Canada.
The IAM represents the largest number of workers at Canadian Airports.
