🎃 Thank you for a #BetterBC
Thank you. That’s all we can say. Thank you to everyone who voted, who donated, who spread encouragement, who got lawn signs, who volunteered, who phone canvassed for their local BC NDP candidate. We couldn’t have gotten this far without your support.
Last Saturday, John Horgan spoke after the polls closed: “I want to make sure that my government works for you, each and every day. That is my passion. That is my calling. That’s why I get up every morning, and I’m grateful for the returns tonight and the final count that’s yet to come, giving the opportunity to me and my colleagues to continue our work on your behalf.”
Halloween is always spooktacular, but this year it’s even more important to put safety first while celebrating and trick-or-treating tonight. The BC Centre for Disease Control recommends people “celebrate less socially and trick-or-treat locally!”
There are plenty of ways to enjoy Halloween: celebrate outside, stick to six people, don’t share snacks, and use hand sanitizer.
If you’re planning to trick-or-treat with children, skip homes that have the lights out, and avoid crowded stairs and walkways. If you’re handing out candy, use tongs or make a candy slide to give yourself more space. Consider adding a non-medical mask that covers your nose and mouth to your costume – thematic and safe!
Old forests are unique, irreplaceable, and have complicated ecosystems. They have their own intrinsic value and many old growth stands are worth more standing than they ever could be cut down for timber.
In early September we protected nearly 353,000 hectares of old growth forests. That’s not all we’re going to do – we’re going to act on all 14 recommendations from the Old Growth Strategic Review Panel while collaborating with Indigenous leaders and organizations, industry, and labour and environmental organizations.
We’re going to take a new, holistic approach to forestry that acknowledges the importance of our natural heritage.
For years under the BC Liberals, real estate speculators and money launderers drove up the cost of housing.
That’s why we’re going to make life even more affordable for renters during this pandemic. John Horgan and the BC NDP are going to freeze rents until the end of 2021. Then, we’ll cap rent increases to the rate of inflation.
Let us know if you agree with our plan to make renting more affordable!
