NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE – DECEMBER 13, 2018

Dear Members:
We advised the Company of the results of the strike vote on December 8, 2018 and provided our availability to meet December 14 – 18, 2018.

The Company responded on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 advising that they were prepared to meet on December 17 & 18, 2018, on the condition that the Union remove and/or withdraw all of our monetary items outside of the Company proposed wage increases.

Your Negotiations Committee met internally and responded to the Company on December 12, 2018, advising that we were prepared to resume bargaining on December 17 & 18, 2018, however, we would not agree to the Company’s conditions.

Once again, this Company has demonstrated their disrespect for the process and for its employees.

Tomorrow the Company will host a “Screening Officer Holiday Luncheon” at YVR to show their appreciation for employees. Instead of showing their appreciation by buying you a sandwich, why don’t they show their appreciation by bargaining in good faith to reach a tentative agreement that recognizes your contributions and rewards your hard work and commitment every day, not just during the holiday season?

We are extremely pleased with the support and solidarity demonstrated by the Membership and continue to consult with our legal counsel regarding our options to resolve this situation.

Thank you for your patience and support. Remember to always work safe.

In Solidarity,

Tania Canniff, General Chairperson Todd Haverstock, General Chairperson
