NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE – SEPTEMBER 27, 2018
Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Further to our bulletin of August 15, 2018, the parties met in conciliation September 17 – 21, 2018. No tentative agreement was reached and at this point the parties have not reach an agreement to extend the conciliation period, which ends on September 29, 2018. We will now enter into the mediation period and have scheduled dates to resume discussions, October 2 – 4, 2018, and October 11 & 12, 2018 with the assistance of our Mediator.
Your Negotiations Committee has been and will continue to fight to improve upon and protect provisions of the Collective Agreement that are of critical importance to the Membership, including but not limited to seniority, scheduling provisions, shift trades/pick-ups/give-aways, compensation and benefits. We will continue to keep you apprised of any developments in the process.
Screening Officers who are Members of the United Steel Workers and Teamsters at ten (10) sites in the Pacific Region, have also reached an impasse in negotiations with G4S Secure Solutions Ltd., and have both filed notice under the Canada Labour Code to enter into the Conciliation/Mediation process.
On September 26, 2018, Screening Officers who are Members of IAMAW, Local Lodge 2921 in Toronto, ratified a final offer from Garda, the screening contractor in the Central Region.
Thank you for your patience and support. Remember to always work safe.
In Solidarity,
Tania Canniff, General Chairperson Todd Haverstock, General Chairperson
