TO ALL IAM & AW MEMBERS – LOCAL LODGE 16

Nominations will be called at the May 15, 2012 General Meeting of Local Lodge 16 for the positions listed below for the balance of the existing term of office, which expires on December 31, 2013.

 

  • Secretary Treasurer
  • Trustee (1)
  • Auditor (1)

 

Nominations for any of the above Offices may be offered at the General Meeting on May 15, 2012.  If the Nomination is offered at the General Meeting, the Nominator must be present at the meeting for the nomination to be accepted from the floor and if the Nominee is not present, he/she must provide a letter of acceptance to the Trustee prior to the start of the meeting, stating that they will accept the position for which they are nominated.

 

Alternatively, nomination forms are available from the Local Lodge 16 offices, 4th Floor, Domestic Terminal Building, room 4212.  The form must be completed by the Nominator and the Nominee, including names, signatures and the position for which the nomination is made and accepted.

 

All nomination forms or nomination acceptance letters must be delivered to the Trustee, prior to the commencement of the meeting on May 15, 2012 at 15:30.  The nomination form/acceptance letter must bear original true signatures.  Nomination forms that are not completed correctly will not be honoured.  Faxes are not accepted.

 

Both the Nominee(s) and the Nominator(s) must be Members in good standing of Local Lodge 16 for the nomination to be accepted.

 

Nominations will close at the General Meeting on May 15, 2012.

 

IAM & AW CONSTITUTION

               

                ARTICLE II – SECTION 3 – ABSENTEE BALLOTS

               

Members who reside in outlying Districts more than 25 miles from the designated balloting place, members who are either confined because of a verified illness or on leave qualifying under U.S. and Canadian family leave laws, or on vacation, or on official IAM business approved by the Local Lodge or District Lodge or Grand Lodge, or on an employer travel assignment, or serve military leave, as the case may be, shall be furnished absentee ballots.  Members applying for an absentee ballot on the basis of residing in an outlying district more than 25 miles from the designated balloting place, shall have their eligibility to vote by absentee ballot determined by the Recording Secretary and the Secretary Treasurer before the ballot is mailed.  Members found not to be eligible to vote by absentee ballot will be so notified within 10 days of the receipt of their application.

 

Please complete the attached absentee ballot request form and mail by Canada Post or Hand Deliver to the Recording Secretary of Local Lodge 16, no later than May 18, 2012.  Additional forms may be obtained from Chief Shop Stewards, Shop Committees or the Local Lodge 16 offices.
