On November 1st the IAM filed a certification application with the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) to represent all members employed at G4S in 11 airports in British Columbia.
The CIRB sent a copy of the application to G4S on November 4th. G4S was advised by the labour board on November 7th to post the notice in the workplace.
G4S now has until November 14 to provide all requested information to the CIRB. Subsequently to that, the IAM has until November 24 to reply with a response to the submissions made by G4S.
The CIRB will then ask a CIRB officer to investigate and file a report to both the company and the union by November 29. Both parties will have until December 1 to reply to this report.
After these deadlines have been met and all of the information has been provided, the labour board will render its decision.
The IAM is awaiting for the final decision from the CIRB before we proceed with any proposed plans or changes to Local Lodge 16.
We will keep in close contact with the membership as any new events happen
