Dear Sisters and Brothers,
Shift changes were wrongfully imposed upon our members yesterday! Our members complained that management called them and changed their shift and/or their rest days. Forty-five (45) members were affected. Many came to our office asking for help.
WHAT WE DID
Although management said they had the right to do this under Article 17.05, they did not meet with us first, nor did they give your Union the necessary reasoning for the shift changes. What Aeroguard did was a clear violation of our Collective Agreement. We said “Enough is enough!”
WHAT WE ACCOMPLISHED
Preparations were already underway with legal counsel to file a complaint at the Labour Board, when the IAM Shop Committee and several Local Lodge officers went to Aeroguard management to deal with the issue. As a result of our intervention, THE SHIFT CHANGES HAVE BEEN SCRAPPED!
If you are not contacted by Aeroguard rescinding the shift modification, please contact the Shop Committtee immediately!
