May 1st from 5:30-9:30pm.<\/p>\n<p>FEATURING:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Book launch: \u201912 Rules for Strife\u2019<br \/>\n<\/strong><em>with labour &amp; political cartoonist Sam Wallman<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201912 Rules for Strife\u2019 is a handbook for change. We don\u2019t need to wait for a leader or saviour. We don\u2019t need to limit ourselves to comments and clicks. In this stunningly original comic-book tour of a serious topic, Jeff Sparrow and Sam Wallman explore 12 powerful ideas distilled from the history of bottom-up struggle for better lives, better working conditions, and a better world. They show how solidarity can be built across growing divisions \u2014 without compromising our values. \u201912 Rules for Strife\u2019 shows how together we can change everything.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Sam Wallman is a writer, illustrator and longshoreman based in Melbourne, Australia. He is a member of the Workers Art Collective, and the Maritime Union of Australia. His comics and agit-prop drawings have been published in the Guardian, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and the New York Times.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Workshop: How Workers Can Drive Change at City Hall<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><em>presented by Women Transforming Cities<\/em><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>This workshop includes an introduction to local government ecosystems and their jurisdiction. It leverages WTC\u2019s civic campaign experience to explore how to influence local decision-makers on issues that directly impact workers, such as living wages, affordable housing, and transit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><strong>Workshop: Union 101<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><em>presented by Worker Solidarity Network<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Workshop: Fighting for Affordable Housing<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>presented by the Affordable BC Campaign (BCGEU)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The rising cost of living, driven mainly by increased cost for housing, is the number one issue facing workers in Vancouver (and across BC).
