Your BC NDP government just announced BC\u2019s Restart Plan \u2013 a careful restart that will protect people and the progress we\u2019ve made.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t a return to normal, but it\u2019s a hopeful, careful step towards a real recovery for all of us.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

British Columbians have proved themselves extremely resilient during the COVID-19 crisis, with big parts of life put on hold \u2013 including elective surgeries.<\/p>\n

Now, the BC NDP government is launching a massive surgical renewal plan to get folks the surgeries they\u2019ve been waiting for.<\/p>\n

This renewal plan includes an increase in capacity and hiring new staff. It will ensure the health system can keep up with demand for new surgeries and clear the existing backlog.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

To make sure we can get through the COVID-19 crisis and restart BC, it\u2019s more important than ever for people who are sick to stay home from work until they\u2019re well again.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re working on better protections to ensure that workers aren\u2019t pressured into coming to work when they\u2019re sick.<\/p>\n

The challenge of keeping education going during recent weeks and months has shone a light on the incredible work done by BC\u2019s teachers. That\u2019s why we\u2019re especially pleased that the BC Teachers\u2019 Federation has ratified a new contract.<\/p>\n

This is BC\u2019s first fairly negotiated contract with teachers in a generation, and it received support from 98% of Teachers\u2019 Federation members.<\/p>\n

After a fair and respectful round of bargaining, teachers are getting the fair wage increase they deserve and can keep focusing on educating kids.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
