People living in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities face unique challenges with COVID-19. We\u2019re launching a collaborative framework that will help ensure these communities have access to critical care during the pandemic.<\/p>\n

This special collaboration between provincial, local, and Indigenous health authorities will provide extra testing, housing, and transport services to protect those at risk and help stop the spread of the virus.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

British Columbians are community-spirited people who have risen to the challenge of COVID-19. Sadly, there are still a few people attempting to profit from the crisis \u2013 so we\u2019re stepping up enforcement of the Emergency Program Act.<\/p>\n

Public Safety Minister Mike Farnworth: \u201cThese measures will provide enforcement officers and police agencies the ability to enforce the law on these criminal acts and despicable practices, like the reselling of medical supplies and price gouging.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Communities and businesses across BC are facing the economic impact of COVID-19. That\u2019s why we\u2019re taking measures to support businesses and local governments experiencing revenue shortfalls, including a reduction of most commercial property tax bills.<\/p>\n

Selina Robinson, Minister of Municipal Affairs: \u201cWith these new measures, we are giving local governments new tools as a first step to ease their financial burdens and that of businesses in their communities now, and as we look to recovery in the months to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Thursday evening marked the start of Ramadan. In a video address to the Muslim community of BC, John Horgan noted that congregational prayers with friends and family will look different this year as people find new ways of worshipping and spending time with loved ones.<\/p>\n

Ramadan reminds us that we all have a part to play in making the world a better place. To all those observing, we wish you a blessed Ramadan!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
