{"id":672,"date":"2013-02-09T05:02:41","date_gmt":"2013-02-09T05:02:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iamaw16.ca\/?p=672"},"modified":"2013-03-11T04:13:47","modified_gmt":"2013-03-11T04:13:47","slug":"group-benefits-update-1-november-16-2012-g4s-pre-board-screening-personnel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iamaw16.ca\/?p=672","title":{"rendered":"GROUP BENEFITS &#8211; UPDATE #1 &#8211; NOVEMBER 16, 2012 G4S &#8211; PRE-BOARD SCREENING PERSONNEL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TO ALL IAM &amp; AW MEMBERS<br \/>\nEMPLOYED BY<br \/>\nG4S &#8211; PRE-BOARD SCREENING PERSONNEL<br \/>\nLOCAL LODGE 16 \u2013 PACIFIC REGION<br \/>\nGROUP BENEFITS &#8211; UPDATE #1 &#8211; NOVEMBER 16, 2012<a href=\"https:\/\/iamaw16.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/benefits.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-675\" alt=\"benefits\" src=\"https:\/\/iamaw16.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/benefits.gif\" width=\"240\" height=\"296\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nDear Brothers &amp; Sisters:<br \/>\nIn the Arbitration decision of August 16, 2012, Arbitrator Foley awarded the following language within the Collective Agreement,<br \/>\ndealing with the Health &amp; Welfare Benefit Provisions:<br \/>\nARTICLE 21.03 \u2013 BENEFIT COVERAGE<br \/>\na) The Company shall pay one hundred percent (100%) of the costs associated with providing a Health &amp; Welfare Benefit Plan<br \/>\nto all eligible employees and their eligible spouses, partners and dependents, including an Employee Assistance Program,<br \/>\nExtended Medical Insurance, Supplemental Health Care Insurance, Dental Care Insurance, Vision Care Insurance,<br \/>\nEmergency Travel Insurance and Life Insurance coverage(s), immediately following ninety (90) days from the employee\u2019s<br \/>\ndate of hire with the Company.<br \/>\nb) The Benefit Plan referred to above will continue for the duration of the Agreement and benefit levels will be maintained. A<br \/>\nschedule of current benefits will be distributed to all employees by the Company in the next thirty (30) days.<br \/>\nc) Employees shall be required to complete Benefit Enrollment forms during employment orientation.<br \/>\nd) The Company will maintain coverage and continue to pay all premiums associated with the Health &amp; Welfare Benefit Plan for<br \/>\nthe duration of all paid absences and absences due to occupational injury or jury duty.<br \/>\ni) In the event an employee is absent due to layoff, the Company will maintain coverage and continue to pay all premiums<br \/>\nassociated with the Health &amp; Welfare Benefit Plan for a period of three (3) months.<br \/>\nii) In the event an employee is absent due to illness, non-occupational injury or leave in accordance with the Canada<br \/>\nLabour Code, the Company will maintain coverage and continue to pay all premiums associated with the Health &amp;<br \/>\nWelfare Benefit Plan benefit coverage for a maximum of one (1) year.<br \/>\nSince the Arbitration, we having been working with G4S to ensure that the coverage and benefits provided by G4S with Manulife<br \/>\nare equal to those previously provided by the IAM &amp; AW, through Pacific First. The coverage and benefit levels have now been<br \/>\nconfirmed and changes have been made to ensure your claims are paid correctly, effective from July 1, 2012.<br \/>\nWe have developed Schedules of Benefits, which outline, in general, the coverage and benefit levels. The reimbursement of<br \/>\nprescription drugs will continue to be based upon reasonable and customary fees within the province and the dental<br \/>\nreimbursement will continue to be based upon the Dental Fee Guide of British Columbia. It is clear from our experience with<br \/>\nManulife to date, that they will be more stringent in their assessment of claims then the previous provider when adjudicating<br \/>\nagainst the reasonable and customary fees for both prescription drugs and dental claims.<br \/>\nThe Plan Text is presently being finalized between G4S, Mercer (Benefits Administrator) and Manulife.
