Hello!\u00a0 My name is Nym Calvez.\u00a0 I\u2019m a Housekeeper at the Pinnacle Hotel in downtown Vancouver, and I am an Executive Board Member of Local 40. Like many hotel workers, I immigrated to Canada for a better life from the Philippines.\u00a0 I worked as a nanny for 8 years, taking care of several families, integrating into Canada, and becoming a Canadian citizen.\u00a0 I am proud to be a hotel worker, but the hotel industry needs to treat us better. \u00a0 One recent summer, over 20 of my co-workers were on WCB because of injuries caused by the high workload in only 2 months!\u00a0 Even though my hotel is making tons of money, I don\u2019t even have stable 40 hours of work. We need full-time jobs!<\/p>\n

Join me and my co-workers Tuesday, May 14 at 4:45pm as we protest outside the Hotel Georgia, Vancouver\u2019s #1 hotel!<\/a><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

We will be calling on the Hotel Georgia to negotiate a fair contract now. The Hotel Georgia is the number one hotel in the city. \u00a0 It is a 5 star hotel.\u00a0 The Hotel Georgia should lead the way in wages, benefits and treatment! We will also call on the Four Seasons to give Job Security Now.\u00a0 The Four Seasons is closing in January 2020.\u00a0 The Four Seasons wants to move to a new hotel WITHOUT job guarantees to their employees. \u00a0400 Four Seasons workers deserve job security.<\/p>\n
