BC NDP launches campaign to reform BC\u2019s broken political system<\/strong><\/h2>\n

VANCOUVER\u2014<\/strong> The BC NDP launched a petition campaign Wednesday asking British Columbians to show their support for a proportional voting system and getting big money out of politics.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn May 9, 60 per cent of British Columbians voted for change,\u201d said MLA-elect Lisa Beare. \u201cPeople voted overwhelmingly to get big money out of politics, to move toward a proportional voting system and to stop funding partisan government ads with taxpayer money.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beare notes that the election results present an unprecedented opportunity to work across party lines to make real changes that put people back at the center of politics in BC.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow is our chance to fix this broken system and the BC NDP will be working hard to get it done,\u201d said Beare. \u201cWe\u2019re asking British Columbians to send a clear message that it\u2019s time to work together and make real changes to make our political system work better for people.\u201d<\/p>\n
