The deadline for the IAM to respond to the company\u2019s submissions was extended to December 2, 2011 by the CIRB.\u00a0 This occurred because of company delays in providing the documents referred to in their submissions to the Unions.<\/p>\n
The IAM has applied for a consolidated unit of the bases presently represented by the IAM or in the alternative, separate units for each of these airports. The company is opposing these applications and is asking the Board to order a single consolidated unit comprised of all the bases within the pacific region.<\/p>\n
The current IAM unit certificate for Vancouver expressly includes Permanent Point Leads and the IAM\u2019s application continues to include this wording.\u00a0 Based on the company\u2019s submission, it is our understanding that they do not contest that Point Leads are properly part of the bargaining unit, however, in their submission they have put forward language that does not include a specific reference to the Point Leads, without explanation.<\/p>\n
Now that the IAM has replied to the submissions made by company, a CIRB Officer will investigate and file a report to both the company and the IAM. The CIRB has not formally issued a revised timetable, but the report will likely be issued in or around December 7, 2011.\u00a0 The parties will then be given approximately two days to reply to this report.\u00a0 Once all of the information has been provided, the CIRB will render its decision.<\/p>\n
As previously communicated, the IAM is awaiting for the final decision from the CIRB before we proceed with any proposed plans or changes to Local Lodge 16.<\/p>\n
