{"id":1591,"date":"2013-09-04T07:24:49","date_gmt":"2013-09-04T07:24:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iamaw16.ca\/?p=1591"},"modified":"2013-09-04T07:24:49","modified_gmt":"2013-09-04T07:24:49","slug":"developing-communication-and-health-and-safety-skills-using-english-as-a-additional-language-esl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iamaw16.ca\/?p=1591","title":{"rendered":"Developing Communication and Health and Safety Skills Using English as a Additional Language (ESL)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The goal of this <strong>free<\/strong> 14-week program is to educate participants about workplace health and safety using an ESL curriculum model.<\/p>\n<p>Participants will have an opportunity to improve their language skills while learning about workers&#8217; rights inoccupational health and safety topics such as workplace violence, preventing back injuries, workplace chemicals (WHMIS) and identification of hazards.<br \/>\nParticipants in these sessions will be able to use this knowledge and information to increase their awareness of health and safety and to become involved in the health and safety committees at their workplaces.<a href=\"https:\/\/iamaw16.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Workplace_Health_and_Safety.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1592\" src=\"https:\/\/iamaw16.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Workplace_Health_and_Safety.jpg\" alt=\"Workplace_Health_and_Safety\" width=\"206\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/iamaw16.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Workplace_Health_and_Safety.jpg 206w, https:\/\/iamaw16.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/Workplace_Health_and_Safety-60x53.jpg 60w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 206px) 100vw, 206px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In this unique program, participants commit to attend a twice-weekly, two-hour evening session for 14 weeks. There is no charge to participants.<\/p>\n<p>There is a participation certificate (great to add on a resume) andgraduation dinner on completion.<\/p>\n<p>Starts September 10, 2013, continuing with Tuesday and Thursdays classes.Space is limited.
