These rights include the freedom to strike, which is a cornerstone of advocacy for fair and equitable compensation, benefits, health and safety standards, and job security.<\/p>\n<p>Recently, the right to strike for the\u00a0<strong>Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW)<\/strong>\u00a0has been\u00a0<strong>revoked by the Canadian federal government<\/strong>, which intervened through\u00a0<strong>back-to-work legislation<\/strong>, raising significant concerns about the ability of workers to negotiate for better working conditions.<\/p>\n<p>This intervention followed a series of labor disputes between Canada Post and CUPW, during which the government imposed such legislation to end strikes and prevent disruptions in postal services. Such actions undermine workers\u2019 ability to freely negotiate and advocate for their rights.<\/p>\n<p>To address this critical issue, the\u00a0<strong>IAM union<\/strong>\u00a0has filed for\u00a0<strong>Observer Status<\/strong>\u00a0in the ongoing discussions. Our substantial interest lies in ensuring that the fundamental freedoms of workers are respected and upheld.
