G4S – PRE-BOARD SCREENING PERSONNEL LOCAL LODGE 16 – PACIFIC REGION NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE – JULY 16, 2018

NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE – JULY 16, 2018

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

In February 2018, we started the bargaining process with G4S. After eight (8) direct bargaining sessions, occurring over twenty-two (22) days, we have reached a tentative agreement on one (1) non-monetary issue and four (4) housekeeping issues. This is completely unacceptable to your Negotiations Committee.

Your Negotiations Committee has been and will continue to fight to improve upon and protect provisions of the Collective Agreement that are of critical importance to the membership, including but not limited to seniority and scheduling provisions.

The parties were scheduled to meet in direct bargaining the week of July 16 – 19, 2018. We
convened at 10:00 on July 16, 2018, however, based upon the exchange between the parties, it was clear that we would not be able to reach a Tentative Agreement that would satisfy the needs of the Membership without the assistance of a third party. Accordingly, on July 16, 2018, the Union filed for conciliation, under section 71 of the Canada Labour Code.

While we await the appointment of a Conciliation Officer, we have agreed to meet with the
Company, August 7 -10, 2018 as previously scheduled, to exchange a comprehensive package of all proposals, in our continued effort to reach an agreement or at a minimum, to narrow the issues in dispute, prior to meeting in conciliation/mediation.

We will continue to keep you apprised of any developments in the process.

Thank you for your patience and support. Remember to always work safe.

In Solidarity,

Tania Canniff, General Chairperson      Todd Haverstock, General Chairperson
