United for Refugees – Action Requested

Between 2,500 and 3,000 Syrian refugees will arrive in the Lower Mainland before the end of 2015. Forty percent of these new arrivals will be children under 18. They need our support as they adjust to life in Canada.

Today, we are proud to launch a community fundraising appeal to raise $500,000 to help these refugee families settle and integrate here in the Lower Mainland.

United Way has a long proud history of helping refugee families. Together, we can welcome them to the place we are so proud to call home, help them become accustomed to a new language and culture, and ensure their children get the best start in life.

As Cabinet members you are ambassadors for United Way and its campaigns in the community. I strongly encourage you to spread the message of this new fundraising appeal. Together we are community. And together we can welcome new families into our community.

Thank you!
